From March 2, three members of NipponMed in Poland came to Japan for training.
I first met Oskar, a Polish acupuncturist, in 2015.
In 2016, he founded NipponMed in Poland as a place where people could both practice and study Japanese traditional medicine.
After that, he experienced many setbacks. However, he never gave up, continued his efforts, and gradually began to achieve results.
Ten years have passed since then.
On this memorable 10th anniversary, they came to Japan for training.
Then, on March 5, a courtesy visit to the Embassy of Poland in Meguro Ward was realized.
Furthermore, a courtesy visit to the Mayor of Meguro Ward was also made possible.
Now, in 2019, Japan and the Republic of Poland celebrated the 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, and NipponMed is celebrating its 10th anniversary.
We all feel that this is also a sign of fate.
This was thanks to the tremendous support of the President of the Meguro Acupuncture Association, whom I deeply trust.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude.
It all began with a small step taken by Oskar and myself, and we have finally reached this point.
After returning to Poland, they will surely make use of these achievements.
I am very much looking forward to what comes next.
Starting next week, my wife Kaori will begin online Kampo (Japanese herbal medicine) lessons for a female student of NipponMed.
The next ten years will surely be a decade of even greater growth.
During these past ten years, I myself experienced many difficult things — my wife’s hospitalizations, her LVAD implantation surgery, and the passing of my mother about a month ago.
Yet this recent event has been so wonderful that it has made up for all of those hardships.
We hope to continue our exchange with them and to play a small role in deepening the friendship between Japan and Poland in the years to come.
