Kampo medicine is a medical system that was introduced to Japan from mainland China about 1,500 years ago.
During the Heian period, the Imperial Court’s medical officials taught the theories and techniques of medicine (kusuri), acupuncture (hari), moxibustion (kyu), massage (anma), and incantation (jugon, jujutsu).
Since then, it has evolved with the times and is still widely practiced today in the forms of Kampo medicine and Shinkyu (acupuncture and moxibustion).
Kampo and Chinese medicine (TCM) developed from the understanding of “Qi” (vital energy) and its philosophy.
It is believed that the world exists because of Qi, and everything that happens in the universe arises from its movement and function.
In modern medical terms, it can be described as a system of thought with a quantum physics perspective.
The understanding of Qi has been used to predict weather and climate, determine directions, create calendars, and develop agriculture, ultimately contributing to nation-building.
When this concept was applied to the human body, it led to the development of medicine.
Kampo and Chinese medicine are not only for curing diseases but also for preventive medicine, contributing to human health, longevity, and well-being.
At Kakikoufu, we offer lectures on ancient philosophical thought, methods to apply it to various diseases, and Qi Gong and Zen practice.
We aim to share ancient wisdom that can be immediately incorporated into daily life rather than simply being studied as theory.
At Kakikoufu,
Kaori teaches the theories and practices of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Kampo medicine, and Medicinal Cooking (Yakuzen).
Hiroshi is responsible for the theories and practices of Japanese acupuncture and moxibustion (Shinkyu), Meridian and Acupoint (Keiraku and Keiketsu) theory, Eastern philosophy, martial arts, and Qi Gong (Qigong).
This is a course that even beginners can learn.
It is also recommended for travelers who want to experience this as a part of traditional Japanese culture.
Currently, we are only offering lessons on okyu (moxibustion). If you are a
licensed Acupuncture practitioner and wish to learn Japanese
Hari(acupuncture), please let us know.
This is a 90-minute hands-on experience.
The participation fee is ¥19,800 (tax included), covering all materials.
If you are already a professional acupuncturist and are seriously wishing to learn Japanese acupuncture or enhance your current treatment techniques, please feel free to consult us.
We will teach you, as needed, how to build a practitioner’s body, unique Japanese needling techniques, Qi training and manipulation, and essential aspects of performing treatments.
The lesson is 90 minutes.
Lesson fee is 38,500 yen (tax included).
